History ... It began at the end of the XVIII century, when the site of the renowned restaurant L'viv Hotel «De La Rus» (owner George Hoffman) was constructed.

The city developed rapidly, and the hotel was a place where a lot of travelers stopped from west to east and vice versa. After 100 years of existence, the hotel even had its own theater hall, guests were offered not only the rooms and good meals, but also to enter the central area, the opportunity to relax in the landscaped garden, and plenty of entertainment (carnivals, concerts, exhibitions). Famous guests were Honore de Balzac, Ethel Voynich, Franz Liszt.

In 1895, the family hotel underwent restructuring decision: by the famous Austrian architects Helmer and Fellner magnificent building was erected in the style of "Neo-Renaissance".



The grand opening of the hotel "George" was held in 1901. Internal and external decoration of striking splendor, the facade was decorated with statues and bas-reliefs of the work of the Italian masters.

To be fair, that was not without criticism of the architectural forms of the hotel, but then no one denied, so a comfortable design. For convenience, there was everything: electric elevator, hot and cold water, telephone, central heating.

Lovely restaurant, gourmet coffee shop, wine shop, a bookstore - the hotel "George" became the most fashionable place in Lviv. During these years, the hotel honored with the visit of Iran shah Muzaffer-Edin.

In 1920, the owner of the building was the pension institution for civil servants, redevelopment of premises was carried out in a few years, as well as add-on the fifth floor. In 30-ies of XX century, with the participation of the architect T. Wrubel, a restaurant and a reading room were decorated in the style of "Art Deco", in 1940. the hotel was included in the "Intourist" network.

Last reconstruction of the hotel "George" was carried out in 90-ies of the last century. But the Lions are constantly wants to be unique, to Euro 2012 hotel "George" again put in order.
